Running Offline Diagnostics test using HP Easy Setup CD

The HP Insight Diagnostics utility is a Hardware diagnostic tool available with HP Easy Setup CD’s of 100 series servers. HP Insight Diagnostics tool is helpful when you do the hardware troubleshooting on a server. This tool can run extensive test on each hardware of your server and helps you to isolate the exact hardware issue.

HP Insight Diagnostics is also used to check if all the hardware devices installed on your Server is recognized by the server OR functioning properly. In short, HP Insight Diagnostics Offline version helps you in troubleshooting failures, intermittent failures, and to validate functioning hardware on your server.

In this post, we will check how to run HP Offline Insight Diagnostics on a 100 series server using HP Easy Setup CD.

HP Insight Diagnostic Test(Offline):

1. Boot your Server using HP Easy Setup CD. The screen will look like the one provided below. 2. Select language as English (US), keyboard layout as US English and click Next. 3. Agree to HP EULA by clicking Agree button. 4. Now you are the home page of Easy Setup CD (Check below provided screenshot)

5. Select Maintenance from homepage. 6. Now you are at the Maintenance Options window (Check below provided screenshot)
7. Select HP Insight Diagnostics. 8. HP Insight Diagnostics window will load and generate report in a moment. 9. Now you will be at the HP System Survey main page. It will show the consolidated report.

10. Click on the Test tab. You will be at the below provided screen.
11. Click on Complete Test tab.

12. Select Test mode as Unattended
13. Ensure that the option Stop on first error is unchecked.
14. Set the Number of loops to 15 (Set 7 as minimum)

15. Select All Devices in the list of devices
16. Click on Begin Testing button

17. Now the test will run on all hardware. This process might take hours to complete.

18. Click on the Logs tab
19. Click on the Diagnosis Log sub-tab.
20. Click Save to save the report.

Note: As my testing server is working fine, you will not find any error logs here. But when you do offline hardware test on a server with hardware failures, you will find error logs.

21. Click on the Test Log sub-tab.
22. Click Save to save the report.

23. Click on the Error Log sub-tab.
24. Click Save to save the report.

25. Success!! You have generated Offline diagnostics logs.
26. Click on Exit Diagnostics
27. Reboot Server.
